Horses

Horses are very much in use during this period. There is no such thing a breeds also. In every case they are split into types, with different horses split into whatever function they provide to society. War, agriculture and transports is were they are used the most. Chargers are used regularly by knights & men-at-arms for war. Swift and strong they can pack a punch charging into enemy lines. Palfreys are horses that are used regularly for horse riding, usually by noblemen, and courtly messengers. They can travel long distances and trot at a reasonable place, as well as bred for a smooth gait. Cart horses are some of the larger horses, bred for work, whether on a farm for ploughing & moving heavy loads. Their size and bulk makes them some of the strongest horses used regularly by common people, and can be used regularly for pulling carts, wagons etc over long distances. Pack horses are types of horses that are used to travel over distances with cargo, and other loads, on their backs. Not necessarily the largest horses, they are some of the sturdier, and surefooted, of the equines in use. There is also Rounceys, that are all-round horses, and can fill in on any role to a greater or lesser degree, although generally looked down upon by the upper classes as a poor man's choice for horse. Coursers is a term that can be used interchangeably with Chargers. Destriers are the ultimate type of warhorse, and very expensive to all but the most powerful & rich of warriors.
