Mk 12 Radio Set
The Mk 12 Radio and Quantum Encoder is the Command level Radio carried by the Signals PFC/Specialist and is used for communications at battalion level or higher. The system is designed to an operational range of 250 miles (this can be boosted with more powerful aerials and hopping.) with both non-encrypted and encrypted secure voice channels and UHF Data channels. The Quantum Encoder system allows for highly secure low bit rate (text) data transfer via quantum woo.
The radio itself works on UHF (30-88Mhz) and allows for data transmission, including locations, pictures, and combat information systems, between radio sets as well as the spoken word. This data can be shown on the in built screen or another Lo-WIFI connected viewing system, such as the tactical contacts or SUSAT scopes.
Significance
Standard Command level equipment, as built by Crystal Dynamics, as part of their integrated radio system that includes personal radios and ship borne FTL communications.
