Radio Comm Callsigns

Within the Solent Corps, and within the greater 12th CAA as a whole, the preferred method of radio call sign construction down to the platoon level is assigned word, number, letter.   To achieve this each corps or large multi-battalion regiment (10+) within the 12th CAA is assigned a block of names of leaders through history. Within this given block the battalions within that corps or large regiment are given one name.   The Solent Corps has been assigned the early Roman Emperors from Augustus to Domitian:   1st Solent Rifles are 1st: Augustus, 2nd: Vespasian, 3rd: Domitian.   1st (Super) Heavy Tank are 1st: Tiberius, 2nd: Caligula, 3rd: Nero.   1st Solent Fusiliers are 1st: Claudius, 2nd: Titus, 3rd: Otho, 4th: Vitellius.   Within the Battalions, the individual companies are assigned a long form letter name such as Alpha. Using 1st Company, 1st Battalion Solent Rifles as an example then the callsign is Augustus-Alpha.   To get a specific Section within that company, its number assignation is given. So 9th section is Augustus-9-Alpha.   To get a specific person within a command section, say the Commanding Officer, there is a known series of Codewords.   Commanding Officer (Any level): Spinwheel (Macgregor as Corp commander has his own specific callsign)   Adjutant (Any level): Wren   BSM/RSM: Detent   FAC: Lakshmi   So to get a hold of the FAC of the 3rd company, 2nd batt, Solent Rifles the callsign is Vespasian-Lakshmi-Charlie.   As these are systemic and not flexible they are not the most secure systems. But as these are used, generally, in situations that the enemy is not Human it matters little.   Generic Artillery is Hunter.
