The Rotton, God of Disease and Decomposition

The Rotton was created to govern over the long process of breaking down creation into its base elements. The Rotton's domain is a required one in the continuation of mortality.
Disease came later. The Proteans viewed the way that the the lesser mortal creature they had created had evolved. They had grown stronger, faster, and better suited to surviving the worlds they existed on. The weaker species had found their place in the ecosystem, and the weakest were slowly phased out. Watching this, they were able to learn much more about the Highmortals.
They determined that when a mortal being obtains a high enough level of intelligence, they are capable of removing themselves from the natural order. They no longer exist within the food chain of nature, and can manipulate the fruits of The Divine Architecture to create tools and shelter. This removal of natural selection led to a surge in population, and a decrease in overall progress due to ease of life.
Their response to this was to create sickness and disease, an unseen force to help slow growth, as well as provide the needed strife to cause innovation.
The Mantel of The Rotton resembles a small black drop of liquid.
