Applicant of the Assembly

Applicants of the Assembly are often the frontline members who bring their planets into the intergalactic planetary political spectrum. They are individuals sent by planets, planetary bodies, or orbital stations that seek membership and recognition within the Allied Terran Systems. While in the status of Applicant, the potential Planetary Governor (should the planet become recognized) typically spends their days campaigning outside of active Sessions of the Allied Assembly to convince an existing member to put forth a Vote to recognize the planet. This period of waiting is intended to allow them to learn and integrate themselves within the political system while also vetting out minor population centers (typically less than a few thousand) that aren't considered as worthy of an equal vote, resources, and the active protection of the ATS. Their acceptance as a Planetary Governor, should a vote pass, also hinges on an inspection and confirmation of their status as planetary representative by a separate team sent to their planet and/or planetary body.
Some individuals have made a career of being an Applicant for Hire who use their existing political connections to serve as a mediary between a potential ATS planet and the Allied Assembly. They rarely serve as Planetary Governor and simply serve as an inroad into getting the recognition of the planet itself so that another, less connected member of the actual planet can serve as its representative.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

The status is dismissed upon a successful Vote to integrate the planet into the ATS and replaced with Planetary Governor.
The status may also be dismissed should the applicant be proven as a disruption or hazard to the Allied Assembly. This sets a ban upon any representatives of the planet for a variable length of time and is a massive setback to consideration of membership.
