Ship Class: Terran Freighter Journey-107

Commonly dubbed the “18 Wheeler of the Skys”, the Journey Freighter is one of the most common cargo-carrying starships. While iterations of it have evolved into other common models like Profit-Class New Trader, the Journey model is still the beast that let the Allied Terran Systems expand. They are a notoriously blocky design with no landing gear or sides, minimal crew compartments and living space, and almost the entirety of the Cargo Hold space optimized.   One of their benefits and limitations, obviously removed in most future iterations, is their lack of Atmospheric Entry models. This made them very cost effective on their own, but limited them in usefulness. They are build in space and retire in space, never seeing a planet’s surface (unless things have gone terribly wrong). This used to limit them to purely Orbital-to-Orbital cargo hauls until the 107 upgrade which added the single Cargo Dropship to make the atmospheric descent. Even with the upgrade, the time it takes for large cargo to make several trips up and down on a Dropship makes another iterations more useful in that regard, but for purely cost-effective space trucking, it is still the king.

The 107 Model, the current standard, comes with a single Manned Turret for point defense systems. Any heavier threats to a shipping lane tend to have escort ships designed for that purpose instead.
