Technology: Broadcast Pylons
Broadcast Pylons are low profile cylindrical objects that has the primary functions of receiving and decrypting signals from a Broadcast Ship then pinging nearby Pylons, Ships, and Receivers with the Encrypted ID (and doing the process in reverse as well). From a user standpoint, the process seems pretty seamless as the ship merely arrives in the system then flies off soon after having downloaded and uploaded the necessary messages.
Pylon Defense Systems
Pirates and other "bad actors" would historically seek to limit the communication flow by attacking and destroying Pylons. They would take the Core which contains the message databanks to Pylon Hackers to breach information safely. This led to the PDS (Pylon Defense System) Technology being standard on all modern pylons. Though the size of the actual Pylon is still relatively minimal, each Pylon now has a multiple turret system with fully integrated IFF to prevent any non-Broadcast Ships from approaching it safely.Pylon Hackers
Historically, this led to team of Pylon Hackers who would try to crack the encryption on the Pylon to view the messages contained. This led to a boom in security measures and is a continuous problem to this day. Fortunately, there tends to be a downslope on this with Acosta Informational's new Pylon technology and has limited reports of a hacked Pylon every 2-3 weeks to around every 5-7 months.Pylon Destruction
Until recently, destroyed Pylons would detonate their cores to guarantee that the contained messages were eliminated. However, Acosta's recent innovation contains Utopia mixed with a unique configuration to detonate the Core in a significant blast radius compared to a small nuclear bomb. It has been claimed to not leave a radiation signature but is certain to at least damage nearby ships within gun range.Aspects
