Miner’s Breath
Transmission & Vectors
Inhalation of toxic Fumes
Symptoms
Abdominal pain, muscle weakness, muscle aches, black spots of skin, swollen joints.
Treatment
Difficult to treat.
Prognosis
Death if untreated.
Hosts & Carriers
Any cave-dwelling species or those who occasionally explore the local mines can be affected by this illness, though some common species do show an immunity. The immune species include the Red Pied bats native to the Lanin Mountains, Dust-eater bats from Dulmir mountain range and the Tendri of Mordus plains.
Prevention
In 1213 in Pantha local miners learned that they could make masks out of extremely fine, polarized cloths. They house these cloths inside of scarves or masks to protect them from the illness. On rare occasion, miner's breath will still inflict a masked individual. The reason for this is largely unknown.
Epidemiology
This condition is spread by infected individuals to uninfected via air. Those affected by miner's breath spread illness by coughing, or even simply breathing close to another individual.
History
First recorded in 16 Caivus on the 25th day, Miner's Breath took a now non existent city by storm, leaving hundreds of bodies to lay rotting in the fields. Paladins from across the Vale came to bid them their farewells so they wouldn't return as angry or restless spirits. The only other known major outbreak of this illness was in Pantha in the year 1172.
