Lake Adau

Lake Adau is the world's second-largest lake, a majority of which is bounded by the Sovereign Markhorate of Wildemarkh with its eastern tip bounded by the Kingdom of Talas. It lies austral of the Spial Mountains and boreal of the Central Desert. The lake has a surface area just under 4,300 square miles and an estimated volume of 2,000 cubic miles.   The lake stretches approximately 140 miles from east to west, with an average width of 45 miles in the western portion and 20 miles in the eastern portion. Its main freshwater inflow, the Plizh River, enters the lake on its western end. It drains to Wyde Bay from its eastern tip via the Trogondic River. A deep basin forms its western half, with the eastern portion considerably more shallow and narrow, leading to stark differences in surface temperature and behavior. The deepest portions of the western basin are unfathomable, while the average depth of the eastern arm reaches no more than 10 fathoms. The shallow eastern arm is susceptable to standing waves that can be difficult to navigate.   Three major cities lie on the banks of Lake Adau: Tsoo on the Plizh delta to the west, Malo on the boreal coast, and Peloc on the eastern tip near the headwater of the Trogondic. Marine traffic is fairly heavy and constant between cities, as well as in and out of the two connecting rivers. The Plizh River and Trogondic River are both fully navigable and so maritime trade from Lake Adau is able to find its way all over the world.   Lake Adau has only existed since the year 1718. Written accounts of the creation of the lake indicate that a sudden disgorgement out of Lake Oromoro in Dagaland created the fickle Plizh River which then filled the Adau basin, flooding thousands of hectares of land within what is now Wildemarkh. The basin filled for 406 years until its own disgorgement through the Talas highlands in the year 2124 creating the Trogondic River.
