Darksong Theatre

Just south of Willingham University, one of the most prized gems of Canterberry can be found: the Darksonng Theatre. The theatre was one of the earliest places built within the town. Lord Canterberry has always had an affinity for the arts, and despite not being able to leave his castle to view the productions and many concerts that take place here, he has remained a long-term patron.   The theatre brings immense joy to the residents of Canterberry. They offer a free show to residents every month. The theatre is most well-known for its play about the Dragon Princess Eclaire and the harrowing retelling of the Battle of Giant's Gulch. This place is worth visiting if you happen to be in Canterberry; the theatre is sure to bring a smile to your face.

Architecture

The building boasts imposing marble columns and intricately carved reliefs of mythical creatures, each depicting legendary figures in dynamic poses. Its roofline is elegantly adorned with marble cat statues, their serene expressions adding a touch of grace. Inside, the grand stage is highlighted by luxurious dark wood flooring that gleams under the soft lighting. The stage is framed by thick, heavy burgundy curtains that drape majestically, their rich texture and color enhancing the theatre's sophisticated ambiance. The overall design exudes timeless elegance, inviting audiences into a world of artistic splendor.

History

The building was commissioned by Lord Canterberry to honor his wife, Ellanora Darksong. She had one of the most lovely voices in all the realms, and he wanted a stage she could sing on. The very building is said to be a testament to his love for her. It is one of the few standing structures that remain after her tragic passing from the Red Death.

Tourism

Many come from all over Selenia to see the mythical and enchanting shows at the theatre. The lucky have been able to see Zephyr Darkcharm perform a few of his songs there, as well as listen to the Willingham University orchestra.
