Crime in the Veil
Criminals in The Veil are harshly punished as a way of maintaining order. Quelling this behaviour is paramount in the eyes of both The Royal Family and The Veiled Custodians, as any threat to the peace could be a threat to the very way of life within this land. The Garrigill Guard fight crime in the city while The Royal Guard take care of A'mondyll. Kinstead has little need for dedicated law enforcement due to its size.
While even petty theft can carry life-ruining fines, acts of treason against The Veiled Queen are deemed to be amongst the worst possible crimes. This can include spreading rumours about the Royal Family, assualting a Custodian, or even mere speculation about what may lie beyond the Veil.
Due to the nature of the Veil, there is very little space for imprisoning criminals. As such, capital punishment is commonplace with public executions being used as way of setting an example. Historically, particularly infamous criminals have even been subject to exile from the Veil.
