Raids and Campaigns

The best and most effective way to gain notoriety and power comes from taking what you want. The Veragi Accord is founded on a basic principle: we will support you in your endeavors so long as you support the rest of the Accord in theirs. To that end, if you want to take a continent, planet, or system, we are here to help you. This is where the bulk of player progression comes online. Raiding works separately from campaign participation, so we'll cover that first.

Raiding Guide

The first step is to inform an Accord patron (that is, an officer) of your character's intent to raid. This can be a Minor Raid or a Major Raid, and both types of raiding will fall on a difficulty scale determined by the officer(s) creating the raid. The difficulty scale ranges from 1-10, with level 1 raids being the simplest to achieve and level 10 raids requiring significant coordination and dedication of power. Both types of raids are encouraged to be completed with other players, but Major Raids require fellow players in order to accomplish them.
  • Minor Raids focus on interplanetary conquests. This can be as simple as deposing a major city's government or taking over an entire continent. No matter your choice in target, a Minor Raid will always be limited in what you can accomplish. Minor Raids are perfect for new characters that are just starting out in the galaxy, or as preambles to larger raids or campaigns (ie, deposing this particular government will make a Major Raid much easier later on). The difficulty scale is anywhere from 1-5. As previously stated, you may complete a Minor Raid on your own; either between you and an officer, or via an approved short story you write by yourself. The harder the Raid, the more likely an officer will suggest you complete the raid with more players. For instance, sacking a single city is completely viable to write a short story for. But taking over an entire continent will require additional players (either within the Accord as allies or outside of the Accord as enemies).
  • Major Raids focus on planet and system conquests. These can be anything from taking a mudball backwater planet with a population of less than a million, or sieging a major capitol planet of a Republic guild. Unlike Minor Raids, Major Raids can have significant ramifications for the galaxy at large, and your scope is much less limited in what you can and cannot do. However, every Major Raid will require coordination with multiple players, either in the Accord as allies or outside the Accord as enemies. You will never be able to claim a planet or system simply by doing a solo mission with an officer. Major Raids can be a bit more difficult to swing, and are recommended for middling-level characters that are trying to break into the upper echelons of Imperial power. The difficulty scale is anywhere from 6-10. Major Raids aren't necessarily limited to A Galaxy Divided contentions, and can be done internally with the Accord.
Minor Raids reward you with something of tangible value, though they are not permanent. This can be something like a puppet government installed in a city, raiding a village to take slaves, or robbing a bank for all its credits. These things are reflected in gaining Military or Wealth points to spend on your permanent province. You cannot gain Industry points or Structures with minor raids-- it doesn't exactly make logical sense to somehow steal an entire city for yourself, or move a shipyard to your own planet, does it?   Major Raids will reward you with at least one province, perhaps more depending on the difficulty of the raid itself. The province rewarded may already have development within its respective categories (see the Development System for more information on this), and a Major Raid is an excellent test of a character's growing power.

Campaign Guide

A campaign is taking a Major Raid and bumping it up to a far grander scale. Sometimes claiming a system or a planet will have major ramifications for other players in the galaxy. When this happens, your raid will instead become a new campaign for the A Galaxy Divided community. This will involve a much broader scope of players and guilds, and a lot more comes to the table. Since your character will be one of the reasons a particular campaign is started, you will be involved with the planning as much as you desire; do note, however, that all campaigns within AGD are not pre-determined. There is a strong likelihood that the outcome of the campaign is not what you or your character expected, and we ask that you take it in stride and use it as a great tool for character development.
