Extended lore
Denthar the Night Serpent is the goddess of Nightmares, Death and Darkness. She is the patron goddess of fear and things that slither in the dark. Denthar is one of the
Great Beasts and the eldest daughter of
Isha, the Lifegiver. The goddess of nightmares fights and eternal battle with her brother Cernunnos, the protector of dreams. Each night the two fight in the
Ethereal Realm, with Denthar invading the minds of sleeping mortals and giving them visions of what they fear, and Cernunnos guarding their dreams. This sibling rivalry has existed from the moment both spirits were born from Isha, for they are two sides of the same coin, forever locked in opposition. Denthar wishes to spread fear across Dunia, as such emotions empower her. With that power, she seeks to become stronger than her siblings and ulimately consume the sun, killing her sister Clíodhna and throwing Dunia into eternal darkness.
The Aspect of Dentar is darkness and fear. She hides in the darkest corners of the feywyldes and uses her power to spread rot and decay. Her influence causes plants to wither and animals to become sick. Denthar is worshiped by the Wyldefolk as the bringer of death. Everything on the material plane must one day die, and Denthar makes that so. She is worshiped in a smaller capacity as the harbiner of the end of the World. Some believe that the World itself must one day die for a new and better world to be born from the mulch. Dendar is believed to usher in the appocolypse, by consuming the sun and bringing forth an age of darkness.
