During the 11 years after the Western Elysian Empire had been dissolved and reformed as a collection of country states under one republic government known as The Renovamen Federation, the Eastern Elysian Empire went through an on-and-off civil war. Multiple factions rose and fell over the decade, until a champion had finally been crowned the winner, and the Western Elysian Empire became known as The Elective Monarchy of Acanthus.

Though this is not the future Cassia Amulius had wanted for her neighboring country (as she had hoped it would become a full republic or democracy without any monarch at all), the kingdom had grown weary and weak from constant wars on its own land. They had driven up their debt, drained the treasury, and focused all of their resources on fighting for so long that the people were starving and exhausted. Depending on the political faction you ask, the decision of becoming an elective monarchy was either a fortunate or unfortunate end result. And so, the country entered the Age of Innovation in a much worse state than its western neighbor. Despite mixed feelings about the new ruling monarch, High King Valamir of Sylvia entered an alliance with the new country in a show of good will, and sent them what food and other resources he could to aid the people of Acanthus. As time progressed, the kingdom very slowly began to heal, and turned their sights away from military might and war toward capitalistic pursuits of industry and commerce.
