Precept Lyceum Encarta

The Precept Lyceum Encarta is the pinnacle of higher learning in all the world. Students from around the continent travel to Blackspire to learn at the Lyceum Encarta. Once a student is admitted to the Lyceum through rigorous tests and interviews, they officially become a Precept. They are then assigned a school of learning according to their interests and test scores. there are five schools of study:

• The School of the Arcane (red)- The study of, and the manipulation of magic
• The House of Natura (green)- The study of nature science in the world of Coriss
• The Hall of the Divine (white)- The study of the deities of this world and the other planes of existence
• The Circle of Mathematica (Yellow)- The study of mathematics and physics
• The Guild of Historia (Blue) - The study of the history of Coriss, and the documentation of the present.
  
  

When they complete their studies in their school, they are awarded a Precept Pendent with the jewel that represents that area of study. It is tradition that after you are awarded your pendent, that you are to go out into the world and experience your area of expertise in person, and out of the classroom. The student is given a small stipend. This usually lasts a year of two. The student then returns to the Lyceum to report on their findings. If a Precept receives all five Stones of study, they become a Master Precept. They are then invited to teach at the Lyceum and continue their studies, fully funded. This could take a lifetime. There are smaller Lyceums throughout other cities in Coriss. They act like satellite locations for specific areas of study. For example, there is a Lyceum in @da that specializes in the study of astronomy. All Satellite Lyceums report to the Lyceum Encarta.
