Esther was not born into nobility, but rather married into it via an arranged marriage as a part of what was mostly an illicit business transaction between the noble but criminal Daggenvails and her father, the leader of the Stillwater crime syndicate of Wolvard, Vincent Garvik. After her marriage to Oswald Daggenvail, she made it her sole purpose to uphold and fulfill every expectation of her as both a noblewoman and as a member of the Daggenvail Family, learning and strictly adhering to proper etiquette as well as devoting herself unquestioningly to every Daggenvail whim.
