City-State of Dorikos

Nestled within the imposing Dorikos Mountains, the Dwarves from under the mountain of the same name have come above ground in recent years to form the city-state of Dorikos. Originally a subterranean civilization, the Dwarves of Dorikos, alongside their Crystalline allies, emerged victorious against the menacing Ice Trolls to claim their place under the sun. Today, Dorikos thrives, its arcitecture a blend of Dwarven stonework and Crystalline brilliance, nestled around a small lake in a valley.   The city's economy booms with the trade of Refined Electrum, attracting merchants and artisans from across the lands. The Deeproot Brewery offers a taste of Dorikos' rich underground heritage, crafting beverages from ancient root recipes that are sought after far and wide. The Crystal Caverns Farm is a unique branch of geomantic engineering, where gemstones are cultivated like crops, providing sustenance to the Dwarves and Crystalline as well as providing immense beauty for travelers.   Despite its prosperity, Dorikos faces challenges. The divide between the wealthy merchants and the hardworking miners and smiths deepens, echoing in the tunnels and markets. Yet, the city's unique governance, rooted in collective decision-making and mutual support, ensures that every voice can be heard.   Tourists often travel to Dorikos for its hot springs, the Deeproot Brewery, and the chance to witness the Blacksmith's at work, who use a unique technique derived from their Geomancers and Forge Domain Clerics. This technique requires the Blacksmith to not use tools in metalurgy but instead to literally punch the metal into submission. As the Dwarves and Crystalline continue to coexist and adapt, Dorikos stands not just as a city-state, but as a vibrant, living community, a beacon of cooperation and cultural fusion in the rugged landscape of the Dorikos Mountains.

History

The Dwarves of Dorikos were originally an underground civilization that survived on a strict diet of roots and gemstones. Trapped within their subterrainian tunnels by the Ice Trolls in the lands above, the Dwarves of Dorikos had limited contact with the outside world.   Historically, several charismatic individuals have attempted to claim the title of King of Dorikos in order to inspire their breathen into defeating the Ice Trolls above ground and claim territory for their kind. However, these endeavours would ultimately fail as the Dwarvish forces were beaten back into their underground homes time and time again. Because of this, the Dwarves of Dorikos developed an aversion to traditional government styles, not seeing any value in placing all of the resource and military power in the hands of one individual or even a small group.   Over time, the Dwarves dug deeper and deeper into the mountains of Dorikos until they found unique creatures made entirely of gemstones. Deep within the planet, they found a race of creatures made from pure crystals and gemstones, called the Crystalline, which had placed themselves into a deep slumber many eons ago due to a cataclysm.   The Crystalline, thankful for being awoken, were fascinated with the Dwarves and settled in comfortably with their underground civilization. The Dwarves asked their new friends if they would assist in defeating the Ice Trolls above so they could acquire more territory above ground. The Dwarvish militias paired with their new Crystalline friends, were able to defeat and drive out several Ice Trolls from the Mountains of Dorikos.   Within a few short years, the Dwarves and the Crystalline built up a few cities above ground and were quickly able to establish trade with surrounding civilizations. Inspired by the technological comforts of the neighboring civilizations, the Dwarves of Dorikos set about to redefine their culture. The Crystalline sought to learn more about the new world they had woken up in, so the majority left Dorikos to travel the world.   In recent years, Electrum Ore has become a sought after resource by the city-states around the Luminara Sea. Since the Mountains of Dorikos hold a great deal of Electrum Ore, the Dwarves were able to quickly position themselves into a variety of lucrative trade arrangements.
