Found on the south side of the
Throndak Range, and hemmed in by the Khyber river; Argwylon is a ancient forested realm of unrelenting beauty and wilderness. At its heart lies the Feywood, large expanse of forest filled with light and wonder, where the rivers are alive with sprites, the waterfalls sing with ghostly voices, the trees walk, and the flowers and wildlife come alive at night with grand displays of light and sound. Some say it is closest thing to Fey wild that exists on this material plane. But it is also a realm that exceedingly few see. The borders of its forests are fiercely protected from interlopers and uninvited guests, leading to a great number of rumors and false stories about the wilds of Argolwyn.
A Hidden Realm of Magic
While enclaves of wood elves can be found elsewhere of varying sizes (Such as Dor'Danil,
Thas'Dorah , the
Autumn Glade or other smaller enclaves), Argolwyn represents the largest single concentration of
Wood Elves remaining in Esseas. It is believed to be among the closest places on Esseas in proximity to the Fey Wild, and it shows in the magical forest wonders, the number forest spirits like Ents and Dryads, Faerie Glades and moonwells. But that also attracts its fair share of malicious invaders who would seek to spoil its splendor. Although they are entirely surrounded by
Kingdom of Tiriande, few are aware of such wonders, for the Argolian elves tend to be the most reclusive of realms, maintaining a strong distrust for
Humans and
Dwarves and their destructive industries. They tightly patrol their borders, which are also protected by magic enchantments. As kindred spirits of the forests, the Wood Elves of Argolwyn have a good relationship with several clans of
Firbolgs, and allow them to live in the woods freely.
One with the Forest Spirits
Ruling from the hidden glades of the capital An’Dorath, the Arbor Queen of Argolwyn has commanded these lands in an unbroken royal line since the early rise of the Elves. She also represents a sort of spiritual leader of wood elves all over Esseas who do not already reside in large kingdom, and commands immense respect among the leaders of all the elven realms. She is counciled first by her husband, the High Consort, and by the Eldermoot, a gathering of the ancient tree guardians and senior druids from the hidden glades and veils across Argolwyn. The other is Conclave of Argolwyn, a body of Wood Elven nobles and village elders which periodically meets to advise or receive information from the Queen. The people of Argolwyn live close enough with the forest spirits that it is not uncommon to have a forest spirit as an advisor in the stead of elder druids to royalty or local councils.
