Whether united under the leadership of a mighty warlock or having fought to a standstill after years of conflict, orc and human tribes sometimes form alliances, joining forces into a larger horde to the terror of civilized lands nearby. When these alliances are sealed by marriages, half-orcs are born. Some half-orcs rise to become proud chiefs of orc tribes, their human blood giving them an edge over their full-blooded orc rivals. Some venture into the world to prove their worth among humans and other more civilized races. Many of these become adventurers, achieving greatness for their mighty deeds and notoriety for their barbaric customs and savage fury.
Orcs regard battle scars as tokens of pride and ornamental scars as things of beauty. Other scars, though, mark an orc or half-orc as a former slave or a disgraced exile. Any half-orc who has lived among or near orcs has scars, whether they are marks of humiliation or of pride, recounting their past exploits and injuries. Such a half-orc living among humans might display these scars proudly or hide them in shame.
Appearance
Half-orcs are most commonly born of human and orc heritage, or from two half-orcs of such ancestry. Half-orcs typically have protruding tusks and well developed muscles, though often not to the extent of full-blooded orcs. They tend to be taller than humans, being up to 6 ½ feet tall, and weighing between 180 and 250 pounds. A half-orc's skin tone can match either that of their parents, or can even be a two-toned mix between the two. Half-orcs, much like their
Half-Elven comrades, gain the benefits and traits of both their parents. The raw power, physic of the Orcs, the wit, intelligence, and longer life of the
Humans.
Far and Wide
Half-orcs can be found fairly widespread through Esseas. In
Ondari Dominion, they are renowned for being mighty soldiers, thanks the Odakar and Kromlech orc clans largely being incorporated into the Dominion, forming the Orc cities of Sudabar and Spurwin Gar respectively. Many half-orcs originate in these towns where Orcs and human peacefully coexist. But in
Tiriande, half-orcs are face a great deal of prejudiced because of the numerous Orcish Warhordes which have come down from the Kolcari Wilds into their lands. While half-orcs are uncommon in the
Meridian Concord they are most often found within Othe, having come to seek peace through the spiritualism present in the city.
