Tarragon Principality

Structure

Tarragon is ruled by a Prince, with various Lords, Ladies, Dukes, Duchesses, Marquis and other titles, though the specific hierarchy of each title has since lost significance. Typically, those who are titled maintain a province, collecting taxes as necessary and caring for the wellbeing of the people, and ultimately answering to the Prince and his court.

History

While their history isn't necessarily the oldest in the world, it has evolved over time. After successfully managing to keep the Tretorian Empire away from their shores, the Tarragon Principality took the chance to grow their own numbers and size, gaining one of the large islands of the Lanvern peoples. The other island that remained became the United Tribes of Cershinia and continue to have a tumultuous relationship with the Tarrans.

Demography and Population

Many inhabitants of the Tarragon Principality are Tarran or mixed in some way with Lanvern , though some smaller amounts of the population include Breilern or Diagus (Tretorian).   While it is common to find humans and half-breeds, it is not uncommon to find halflings, dwarves or even elves among those. Though somewhat rarer, it isn't unheard of to see gnomes, tiefling or even aasimar or shifters. In addition, there is a monastery which is home to some aarakocra, firbolgs and even tortle, though they generally do not leave the monastery, so running into them is very rare.

Military

While the Tarragon Principality has branched somewhat into naval military, theirs does not compare in the slightest to that of the Tretorian Empire or the Kingdom of Mooreland. Their strength lies in footsoldiers and engineered warmachines, such as catapults and turrets. The Tarragon are strict about magic's use on the battlefield, however, so it is fairly limited.

Religion

The people of the Tarragon Principality are open to worship any of the Traditional Pantheon, as well as any other gods, though some gods, like those of the Qarraki pantheon, may be shunned by other Tarrans, and openly worshipping them may lead to prejudice.

Foreign Relations

The Crown of Tarragon tries to maintain somewhat peaceful relations with its neighbors and other nations, though some of these relations are strained at best.   Namely, Tarragon has best relations with the Kingdom of Mooreland, who has a strong naval presence and does much trade with the port cities of Tarragon. Beside that, Tarragon is somewhat amicable with the Breilern people, despite being occupied by the Tretorian Empire.    Tarragon has lukewarm relations with the Tribes of Cershinia after their history, but a shared demographic helps to keep at least some amount of business between the two nations, though that is mainly on a case-by-case basis between tribes.   Due to an ongoing struggle and momentary peace, or really a standstill, between Tarragon and the Tretorian Empire, there is not much relation between the two nations officially. Though merchants may trade between the two, the nations largely ignore these, watching from afar for any chance of aggression on the other's end as a signal for darker days ahead.   Tarragon has had little to no connection with the remaining nations, partially because of their closed off or far off distances or cultures. While Tarragon does try to keep these relations at least at a good neutral, there is not much effort on either part to cultivate one currectly.

Agriculture & Industry

The Tarragon Principality has many natural resources that make it easy for it to maintain itself and it's people, from food production to manufactoring, they have little need for import.
