Session 12: The Long Road Home Report

General Summary

The twelfth session, taking place on the 6th of January in 2024, involved the characters of Sensu (BloodMarry), Ausie (Primolasp), Cord (Mr Bibbles), Xelfy Zippletopple (Yeti) and Red (Erasmas). The session lasted from 19:30 British Time, following technical difficulties, to 23:14 British Time.   The session began outside of the cave network from last session, following a rest that the party took before continuing with their tasks. As the party awoke, they found the Guildmaster trying to speak to them through their Communication Crystal, causing a prolonged attempt at understanding how medieval smartphones work. When the party managed to speak to the guildmaster, he informed them that, for a small bonus, he needs them to pick up one of their explosives specialists left vulnerable outside of the city. Already close enough to pick up the expert, and apprehensive to bring Cord the Bioweapon back to Winkwarwick, the party set off to earn their bonus.   Upon nearing the target site, the party saw and heard a large explosion, simultaneously inducing haste and dread as they came upon a small clearing with a house. Fortunately, they found a very excited and very intact Halfling demolitionist watching explosives going off rather than being in the explosion. After a short discussion, and using the Communication Crystal so the demolitionist could speak with the Guildmaster, the demolitionist agreed to come with the party after grabbing some of their things. Less fortunately, a group of heavily armoured soldiers arrived at the clearing who, after a short examination, were emblzoned with the emblems of the semi-antagonistic League of the Fractured Sun. Unwilling to hand over someone as captive to the organisation when pressed, the party opted to the tried and tested method of killing everybody. Handily, aside from Xelfy turning someone into mummified remains again, the battle went smoothly and the leader of the group, Lyle, was taken prisoner.   After ensuring that the demolitionist would not disclose the existential dread inducing nature of Cord, the party then started discussing what to do with Lyle, a witness of the aforementioned eldritch bodyhorror and who was being conveniently useless when interrogated. After pinky promise, swear on the heart god's life that they wouldn't kill Lyle the moment they were out of sight, Cord, Red and Sensu stayed behind with Lyle whilst waiting for Sensu's Average Joe Ring to recharge as a more effective disguise for Cord. Needless to say, they executed Lyle as soon as Xelfy and Ausie were out of earshot. Unaware of the somewhat hasty death, Xelfy and Ausie made their way to Winkwarwick to drop off the demolitionist.   Upon arriving at the city, the duo found it on high alert, still cleaning up the remains of a failed, albeit destructive, siege by the League of the Fractured Sun. On their way through the still intact city gates, the duo encountered Old Al and Zuma David, the innmaster and caravan master from their time back in Earsh, who brought news of the city's once rigid personal occupation army being replaced by a skeleton crew, the rebels leaving to head towards Winkwarwick. After wishing the two farewell, Xelfy and Ausie made their way in to the Guild, hoping for an uneventful handover. Upon arriving, however, they were able to quickly hand the demolitionist to the Guildmaster but, revealing the reason behind his uncomfortable panick, were told to collect the others for a meeting with an individual of note. Wanting to not only find out who they would be speaking to and wanting to get the others within the sanctuary of the city walls, the duo set off back to the demolitionist's house.   After collecting the others, and being told that Lyle definitely, absolutely just vanished from existence rather than being killed and dumped in the woods, the full party returned to the guild, where the Guildmaster was already waiting for them. After a short brief to explain that the party must be polite and respectful, the Guildmaster ushered them inside to meet the Yuqtin Lord Aymeric Bauer the Third. Fully braced to meet an uptight asshole, the party was pleasantly surprised when Lord Aymeric turned out to be a level-headed, albeit cynical, acquaaintance with an exceptionally profitable job offer. With little to no objections, the party pondered the offer of recieving an official commission from Lord Aymeric and accepted, being provided with new, temporary residence for the foreseeable future. At this point, it was agreed for the session to end so the party could pick their residence ready for the next session.
