Session 13: Mandate of Gold Report

General Summary

The thirteenth session, taking place on the 13th of January in 2024, involved the characters of Sensu (BloodMarry), Ausie (Primolasp), Cord (Mr Bibbles), Xelfy Zippletopple (Yeti), Oliver (Mac), David (Bisharp) and Red (Erasmas). The session lasted from 19:14 British Time to 00:42 British Time.   The session began at the Merchant's Guild, the party having just concluded their meeting with the Yuqtin Lord Aymeric Bauer the Third and the now less distinctively skittish Guildmaster. After a short conversation with the Guildmaster, who proved to be incredibly grateful for the party not angering the Yuqtin Lord. The Guildmaster also agreed to inform Aymeric about the party's choice of residence whilst they enjoy a relaxed day of shopping and hopefully no unspeakable violence.   To begin with, the party assessed their options before travelling to the alchemy store they'd be living above. Upon arriving, they found the fairly large store quite full, a large line of customers being slowly tended by the visibly exhausted Alchemist. Not interested in waiting, the large and very armed party shouted for the Alchemist, invoking visible fear as they accidentally made the Alchemist believe that they were here to rob him and take the store. After very quickly clearing up the misunderstanding and waiting in line, the party explained that they're the new residents for the upstairs apartment and showed the documents from Lord Aymeric, after which the Alchemist introduces himself as Hassan Meyers. Interested in stocking up for their future endeavours, the party also questioned him about what types of items are available, eventually purchasing two health potions and a Magnesium and Liquid Fire kit. Through a combination of wanting better equipment and the liability of carrying hundreds of gold pieces everywhere they go, the party decided to visit the same Blacksmith who crafted David's spear.   When they arrived, the party found the Blacksmith's store to be a contrast of the Alchemist's store; empty of customers despite the displays of equipment. When the party managed to draw the Blacksmith's attention he explained that, with the local army having been depleted in the attempted siege of Earsh and the guards having more than enough equipment after the recent attacks that his business has run dry. Preferring to get straight to business after their chat, the party began to take stock of their options, purchasing new armour for some of their members before asking about rarer, possible enchanted items. Only expecting something such as a +1 armour, the party were surprised when the Blacksmith went into an actual backroom to collect an old, but exceptionally well crafted, shield, which the Blacksmith explained was one of his enchanted works, done more as a side project due to the lack of market for them. Initially expecting the shield to cost a fortune, the party were pleasantly surprised when the Blacksmith was happy to accept Red's Dragonfire as payment for it. Having now obtained the equipment they needed, the party returned to the inn to sleep for their last night in rented accomodation.   After a long rest, a proper meal and an abundance of free sandwiches, the party were prepared for their second meeting with the Yuqtin Lord Aymeric Bauer the Third, and hastily made their way to the Alchemist's upstairs apartment. When they finally arrived, the party found the apartment already unlocked with Aymeric, the Alchemist and a heavily armoured individual waiting inside. After handing over the Commision Sanctified of the Weighted Dice, Aymeric introduced the heavily armoured individual as the Goliath, a high-ranking muscle of the Retributor Coalition, an even higher ranking organisation that forms the backbone of the Salamese Law Enforcement's power. Aymeric also went onto explain that, should the party's lust for bloodshed and adventure grow unsatiated, there is a particular individual that they, and the Goliath, can assassinate for him. Immediately enticed by the prospect of getting richer and committing unspeakable violence, the party questioned Aymeric about the assassination, learning that an informant has provided the location of a rebel leader known as the General, who has his forces holed up in a fort near the city in preparation to aid the rebel siege. Already prepared to begin the mission, the party followed the Goliath's lead and set out to the target location.   When the party arrived, the party found the site to be even more fortified than previously expected, hastily hiding to avoid alerting the guards whilst Oliver began to scout. When returning to the group, the party learnt from Oliver that there's only two, heavily guarded entrances and this is the only opportunity they'll get to attack before the rest of their forces return from other duties. After confirming that the target was in the fort, the party led their head-on assault.   The battle itself proved to be a challenge, the small army of adventurers charging into the den of almost 30 trained soldiers, whilst the Goliath carved his way through to their target. Despite multiple members of the party either going down or nearing the blackout mark, the group succesfully eliminated the General before fighting their way out, harried by the seemingly endless flow of reinforcements and multiple volleys of crossbow bolts as they fleed into the woods, but not before hastily stealing one of the bodies so David could use the plate armour. Having spent a total of 2 hours and 20 minutes on the massive battle, and the time being 00:42, it was agreed to leave the session there for the day.
