Halflings
Often found in the peaceful rolling hills in the quieter locations of the world, one may find a shorter race of beings known as Halflings. With the goals of a simple, quiet life being chief amongst their concerns, it is quite easy to overlook a Halfling. Warm fires, a full stomach and fine drink are all things Halflings desire, with the wider world and the politics of kingdoms being something not worth bothering in. Despite this, some Halflings have wandered far and wide, and it is often the smallest of people that bring about the biggest changes in the world!
Standing around 3 feet tall, Halflings can often be mistaken for Human children. With a shorter stature comes a smaller weight, and most Halflings find themselves weighing between 40 and 45 pounds. Like their Human cousins, their skin colour can be a plethora of shades - from darkest browns to almost pale white. A typical trait of all Halflings is their curly hair, which can be brown, blonde or varying shades of ginger. Long side burns along men is common, but beards are rare (although moustaches seem to be more common!)
Two subraces of Halfling exist on the world of Varda - Lightfoot Halflings and Stout Halflings. Lightfoot Halflings tend to be fairer and the taller of the two, and are most often found living amongst a plethora of races on the surface. Stout Halflings are, as their name implies, stouter, with a bulkier frame. They are found living amongst Dwarves, often in the vast underground Cities the Dwarves carve in to mountains and rock.

Origins of Halflings
It is thought that Halflings are an off-shoot of Humans, but this has never been fully proven. Halfling heritage has been traced back to the The Kingdom of Arden, specifically the Telmar and Dalarn Lowlands Provinces. Halflings existed here long before the Kingdom came about, and were happy to become official members when it was formed. How long Halflings lived here before the Kingdom was created is a fact lost to time, as Halflings have always tended to stay quiet, living a peaceful life away from the big-folk of the world.Finding Halflings in the World of Varda
The majority of the Halfling race is found within The Kingdom of Arden. However, with their inclusion in to the Kingdom, they have managed to travel far and wide, setting up their own small communities amongst other Countries and regions.
