Tieflings

A race of humanoids exist upon Varda that are quite unlike any other. Standing around the height of 5 to 6 foot, they have a build roughly similar to Humans and weigh about the same. Several features set them apart from other races, most notably their skin colouration. Blues, reds, pinks and purples in all shades are a definitive trait of Tieflings, and these can vary in darkness and shade greatly. Tieflings also have a set of horns that sprout from their heads. These can vary in shape and size as well, and some will have curling horns akin to a ram, whilst others may have tall horns that may spiral upwards, much like a gazelle or antelope.

Around their horns, hair will often flow backwards, and can range in dark hues of red, purple and blue, and can also be brown or black. Facial hair is common on males. Tieflings also have non-prehensile tails, roughly 4 to 5 feet in length. Their eyes are an unsettling sight, as they have no visible iris or pupil, and are a solid colour. They can vary greatly as well, with most colours being found present - from reds, yellows and browns to blacks, blues and purples.

Tieflings, like most races, reach maturity in their late-teens. They live for slightly longer than Humans, typically seeing a century, but seldom reaching older than 120 years of age. They have the ability to see well in darkened areas, and every Tiefling has some innate spellcasting ability, even if they only know the most basic of spells.

Origins of the Tieflings

Being one of the youngest races to appear on Varda, Tiefling history only reaches back a few thousand years. Their legends and myths of their origins tie closely in to their primary religion - The Seven Celestials of the Imprisoned. It is said that these Celestial beings were jealous of the other Gods and Goddesses that had lived much longer lives. They had seen the other Gods creations upon Varda, and wished to join in with this creation. The Seven Celestials combined their powers, moulding and perfecting a race that would be marked out as a creation of them and them alone. With this, the Tieflings were formed and placed upon the world.

Finding Tieflings in the World of Varda

Over the years that the Tiefling race has existed, they have created many Kingdoms and Empires that have been born and destroyed as the centuries progressed. In the current age, the country of Therrezia is home to the majority of Tieflings, with its ruling class being made solely of Tiefling and Kalashtar.
