Kalashtar
Upon the continent of Vastalia is a sub-race of Humans that have been warped and changed by tragedies of the past. Known as the Kalashtar, or "Haunted Ones", this race of people find themselves perpetually haunted by the past. The Kalashtar appear human, but have strange qualities that set them slightly apart. They have symmetrical, slightly angular features, which often causes discomfort when looking at them. In times of great focus or when showing strong emotions, an otherworldly light may burn from their eyes.
Being a sub-race of Humans, Kalashtar reach adulthood at the same age - around 18 years. They are also unlikely to see any years past the age of 80. Skin colours can very as much as normal humans, ranging from very pale all the way to nearly black. However, unlike humans, their hair-colour is much less diverse. Most Kalashtar have white hair, with rare exceptions being grey or silver. Their eye colours tend to be lighter tones of blue, green and brown, and some even looking to be so light that they are off-white and grey.
The haunted nature of the Kalashtar truly sets them apart from their human kin. The spirits of the long dead attach them to each individual, binding with them in a strange, symbiotic relationship. The Kalashtar will hear whispers from this spirit throughout their life, and objects may move by themselves due to the haunted nature. The connection grants the Kalashtar some minor form of psionic powers, as the spirit reads in to the souls around them.
Whispers haunted them in their waking moments, and it was soon discovered that those lost in the terrible fate of the once-great Kingdom now haunted the survivors. Through the years, these spirits have passed from generation to generation, granting gifts and a terrible curse to an entire race of people. The leaders of the survivors, united with the Tieflings, forged their own country, Therrezia. In this formal declaration, all those that were inflicted by the Haunting Curse renamed themselves to the Kalashtar, which in the old tongue means "Haunted Ones".

Long before The Kingdom of Arden, another Kingdom stretched across Astiria. In the peak of its prosperity, a great evil befell the Kingdom, all but wiping it from the world of Varda. Those that inhabited the Kingdom fled across the seas, coming to the continent of Vastalia. The Human survivors were taken in by the fledgling Tiefling race. Finding Kalashtar in the World of Varda
Kalashtar solely inhabit the country of Therrezia, and few leave this country to settle elsewhere. Where the odd Kalashtar will journey for other reasons, such as adventure, diplomacy or trade, they will always return to Therrezia, to be amongst other Kalashtar. Alongside the Tieflings, the Kalashtar have several families that govern and rule Therrezia.
