What is a Wraith?

A wraith is what happens when the spirit of a person or animal gets corrupted or damaged before death, and is therefore not seen by a Reaper , which causes them to wander aimlessly, stuck between the spectral and physical worlds.

What causes a Wraith to form?

Wraiths happen when a being is either broken by trauma, for example, due to a specific traumatic death or by a traumatic life. it is possible to heal a broken soul either in life or in death, although it is easiest when someone is still alive. They can also form after having been corrupted, this is usually something that happens during life, for example, werewolf and lesser vampire souls become corrupted, it isn't impossible to cleanse a soul, but it isnt easy, and it is a highly unpleasant experience. werewolf and vampire souls are usually collected by the Ynue who caused them and dont get the chance to become wraiths, but not all corrupted souls are claimed by the Ynue, and those will become wraiths.
