Eylathe
Built within the ruins of the former Daemon capital sits the city of Eylathe. Both major port and the homeland of the Scriptorii, Eylathe is a bastion of civilization in the chaotic land it calls home. Because of the wealth of knowledge and items the Daemons left behind, Eylathe is home to one of the largest libraries in the known world. Massive amounts of applications, forms, and interviews stand between the library and the general public so very few people other than Scriptorii officials have even seen the inside of the library of Eylathe. The average time it takes for an individual to receive access to the library often takes 10 years and any mistakes or failed interviews require the process to be restarted.
Other than the library of Eylathe the city is known for three other things. The first of which is the Colosseum of Ancients, a massive colosseum originally built by the Daemons. Years ago Minotaurs refurbished the colosseum and now it is used to hold combat tournaments, circuses and other forms of entertainment. The second attraction of Eylathe is the Market Quarter. Boasting merchants from all over the world and some even from the other side of rifts, the Market Quarter is one of the largest and most diverse trading hubs of the world. Here every form of currency in the known world is exchanged. From gold to slaves to raw materials to souls to precious gems. Odds are if you wish to buy something you can find it here. As long as it is legal of course. The last but not least attraction of Eylathe is the Daemon ruins themselves. Beneath the city of Eylathe lies a massive underground extension of the city. Long since fallen to micro rifts and subterranean monsters, the ruins are a dangerous place. The city of Eylathe controls all access to the ruins and allows certified members of its adventurer's guild to explore them in search of treasure and valuable monsters. It is common for armies of other nations, military organizations or foreign adventurers to travel to Eylathe with the intention of training within the depths of the ruins.
Demographics
Though the majority of the city's government is mainly comprised of Scriptorii and Eylathe serves as the homeland of the Scriptorii, they make up less than 10% of the population of the city. Only their status as city founders and the eldest inhabitants has afforded them their position.
Being a major port within the southern part of the world, Eylathe boasts a large population of Minotaurs. Due to the nature of the port and their nomadic nature though the individuals are constantly shifting the number of Minotaurs within the city doesn't change as much. Minotaurs make up roughly 15% of the population.
With the city not being run by humans, many exotic races that don't get along with them have come to call Eylathe home. A mix of Tieflings, Collectorii, Aasimar, Fabrin, Dust Genasi, and Tabaxi comprise roughly 50% of the population.
Humans and City Elves comprise the remaining 25% of the population.
Government
Eylathe is an autonomous city-state and as such they govern themselves.
Defences
The primary defense of Eylathe is not its walls or adventurers but rather the seemingly endless supply of magical constructs that the Daemons left behind. Though only operable by the Scriptorii that rule the city, these constructs, named the Library Guard by the public, seem to always be where they are needed most with little delay. That said the numerous adventurers that call the city home do not hesitate to assist in the protection of the city when it is called for.
Guilds and Factions
The Adventurer's Guild
The League of Reclamation - One of the oldest groups within Eylathe, the League of Reclamation is a group of roughly 300 Scriptorii from the time of the Daemons or shortly afterward that dream of finding their lost masters or at the very least putting a stop to Daemonspire so their spirits can rest. They have been slowly amassing weapons of all kinds waiting for their day to strike. They are partially responsible for the Market Quarter's creation.
The Children of Eastoron - a Minotaur group that interacts with the city's government on behalf of the Minotaur population that dwells in the city. The official owners of the Colosseum of Ancients and several Minotaur exclusive docks.
The Construction Union - the union of workers that work to rebuild the various ruins the city has fallen into. Their work has afforded them a high position within the city.
