Tyg
Found on the large island of Tygeas off the coast of Northern Maraal sits the city of Tyg ruled by King Menares. Unlike the other large cities of the Seven Kingdoms, three-quarters of Tyg was built on the waters of the island's bay. The streets on land slope downward and become canals and bridges that connect all the buildings and platforms that make up the city. In the parts of the city furthest from the coast, the docks and small buildings float on little more than complicated rafts. As you move closer to the coast the city rests on great stone supports that house the city's sewers, water supply and are prized by architects from all over the Known World.
Government
Tyg, the island of Tygeas that is sits on and a few of the surrounding islands are all under the rule of King Menares. Directly beneath him are the
Taxes
All ships that dock in Tyg must pay a percentage of the goods they carry in either coin or in goods themselves. For example, fishermen simply hand over a few fish whereas cargo and transport ships often pay the city in gold.
Industry & Trade
Despite being a port city, about 60% of Tyg's trade revolves around the sale or working out the metals and other materials harvested from the nearby mountain range. Since Tyg is the only port on the whole island, something done on purpose, all of the settlements and farms from the island have to send their wares to Tyg, either to be sold or to be transported elsewhere from the port.
