The Great Web
Arachnids of all shapes and sizes are found across the Worlds of Otherverse, from the tiny and harmless House Spiders to far larger and much more dangerous epcimens like the monstrous Joconorno.
None though cause as much fear as the Wraith Spider; a human sized white breed of arachnid the Wraith's are found in heavily urbanised areas like the lower depths of Bel'Zanar. In that sprawling ecumenpolis they are a constant menace to all and sundry and not just those who reside in the underground levels. They travel freely, bypassing security and barriers to prey upon any and everyone. Highly intelligent a Wraith will find and target its prey, paralize them and wrap them in its webbing and drag them back to its lair.
These lairs are always in regions other creatures cannot reach and are always home to at least five Wraiths though far larger groups have been discovered. The unfortunate victims are strung up and drained of fluids.
Though not all.
For the Wraiths serve a higher power.
At the heart of each lair is a tangled structure of biomass and webbing in the form of a ring. This ring allows the Wraiths access to their home realm, a pocket dimension connected to each and every lair across the Worlds of Otherverse.
This is the Great Web.
A nightmarish realm of roiling clouds littered with broken fragments of dead worlds, derelict space vessels and megastructures all entangled a web. Visitors to the Great Web will see via the intermittent lightning flashes untold numbers of Wraith Spiders scuttling across the web. And if they are unlucky, they will see an immense Spider whose size eclipses all others.
This is Corryn, progenitor of the Wraith Spiders and worshipped by them and cults across the Worlds of Otherverse. One of the legendary Levithans, Corryn guides her agents spider and otherwise to furthering her own schemes and goals. Supplicants come to her and petition for aid and boons. Those that she deems unworthy become sustenance for her brood. Those she sees potential in she spares and they become another agent, marked by her touch and able to call upon her aide and her children.
Unlike many of her fellow Leveithans Corryn is not a wild mindless creature. She is calcuating and highly intelligent, an ancient and powerful being whose machinations span centuries. What her goals and alliegances are remain unknown.
It is also unknown and highly speculated about whether or not Corryn can leave the Great Web.
