The Horned Toad
One of the minor Gods of Otherverse, the Horned Toad is a huge, corpulent being renowned for its absolute uncaring attitude beyond its own vices. It resides within its domain; a foetid swamp that can manifest in similar environs across Otherverse. Any swamp can be used to reach its domain, you must simply know how to call upon the Horned Toad. In spite of its foul nature and endless hunger, the Horned Toad will bequeath its followers and those who can either amuse it or offer something worthy with magical knowledge and items. Those who displease the God see its huge maw open wide and its long tongue dart out to capture them and drag them to their demise.
The amphibian races such as the frog-like Broga worship the Horned Toad with some clans believing it to be the progenitor of their race. Their Shamans and Champions dedicate their souls to the Horned Toad before battle and their notoriously bloody ceremonies and orgies. The Horned Toad is notoriously indifferent to its worship, but that does not stop the Broga and other amphibious peoples from serving it and offering homage and sacrifices in its name.
Its indifferent nature and laziness has on occasion made the less wise to think the Horned Toad weak. Those have received its patronage may believe they can get one up on the Toad only to discover it is more aware than first thought. And very, very quick to wroth.
Quite how the Horned Toad came to possess its horde of magical items is a mystery. It consists of weapons of incredible power, magical tomes and cursed items of every shape and size. The Horned Toad seems to care little about the items it gives away but jealously guards its horde from those who would steal from it.
It is served by an array of amphibious beings, including the distressing human-frog hybrids of the Braga and the Black Toads, a sect of incredibly efficient and dangerous killers.
