Titan Shells

Crabs and other crustaceons are found across the coastal regions of Caenar in great numbers and varieties. Some nomadic tribes take the horse sized breeds as beasts of burden whilst others have constructed settlements in the remains of the fallen Titan Shells, immense crabs who pose a risk to sea faring tribes close to the coastlines.

A Titan Shell is close to 300 feet tall and almost as broad. Its carapace is incredibly durable and grows more rough and mottled over its long, long life and its not uncommon for even life specimens to have thriving nomadic clan communities on its back. Its claws can crush galleons and some specimens have been seen to have more than two pairs. One particularly ancient Shell called Old Scar has five formidable pincer limbs and is big enough to have a thriving village on its back, the denizens keeping the old crab free of parasites in exchange for the protection they get by hitching a ride. The settlement is over a century old now and the tribes people worship Old Scar as a benevolent God. He seems cognisant of his passengers and tolerant of them to a degree. After all, they keep him free of the parasites that can so often plague his kind.

They are not overly aggressive, a rare thing for Caenar, but due to their size pose a risk without knowing it. They have few natural enemies save for the Krakens of the Deep Sea. Fortunately the Titan Shells rarely venture far from shorelines. For the clans who live atop their backs, this is a very good thing.
