Carnelian

The Fiery eyes

"Carnelian is a mineral that has influenced Dragonborn culture in an irrevocable way. As of now, it acts as a omen of good luck, prosperity, and positive emotion to most of the Dragonborn people. It's interesting how such small things can influence an entire people's culture: Take a difficult ordeal, a new home, and more factors, and just about anything can make its way into an important position in that people's culture!"

General Info

History

Carnelian, one of the rich minerals found deep within the Wraith Globe, is a material that is an important part of Dragonborn culture. After The Rebuking of the Dragonborn   during the Draconic Era, the Dragonborn people found themselves on the isle of Corevia. Once a volcanic hotspot, Corevia is now a mountainous island filled to the brim with lava flows and dormant volcanoes. However, during The High Cataclysm, many veins of Carnelian deep beneath what is now Corevia were jumbled up, at rose to the surface of the island. When the Dragonborn exiles first landed on Corevia, they saw the massive flows of Carnelian as an omen of future prosperity. When The Tyranny of Dragons  was brought to an end and all of Dragonkind came to Corevia, the Carnelian was of the same striking tone as the pupil of an adult red dragon, earning it its nickname: The Fiery Eyes. In fact, trace amounts of Carnelian were put in the crystalline formula used deep within the Mount of Eternal Slumber, where all dragons sleep eternally.

Influence on Dragonborn Culture

In Dragonborn Culture, Carnelian is taken as a good omen and a sign of a hopeful future. The act of stumbling across an untainted and untouched flow of Carnelian means even more: that your future is blessed and watched over by the Lords of the Wraith Globe. These cultural connections lead to many a Dragonborn traveler carrying a small, smooth piece of Carmelian as a sort of good luck charm.
