Aegwynn, The Lady

"There is evil in the world, and a world of evil waiting. I must re-establish her following, to protect mortal kind. Through my temples, their suffering will find relief; Through their relief, they will offer her prayer; Through their prayers, she will find strength; And through her strength, evil will cower in fear." - Arathao  , talking to a blacksmith on his first morning as a mortal.   Domains: Justice, Wisdom
Subdomains: Knowledge, Light
Alignment: Lawful
Favored Weapon: Longsword, Shield   Aegwyn, often referred to as “The Lady”, was a deity that believed in impartial justice, by her own code; and in wisdom which allowed you to dispense justice all the fairer. Considered pretentious by most and certainly self-righteous, she became obsolete and forgotten as civilization began to mark its own rules of law as superior to her own. Eventually, she faded from memory, as the corrupt judicial systems began to supplant those that her followers preached, they faded into obscurity.   Worshipers
With such virtues, it is perhaps surprising that Aegwyn’s followers are relatively few. Only a few isolated groups of divout followers remain and their numbers have been declining steadily for centuries. Aegwyn is stoic and adheres to her own personal code of justice and her gifts of wisdom usually come with a hefty price.   Symbols and Books
Aegwyn’s symbol is that of a set of silver scales, an ornate longsword on one end and tomes upon the other. A lesser symbol is a stylised form of a winged figure, often used on smaller artefacts. A relic lost to history is that of El’druan, her longsword that she gifted to a champion of justice eons ago; it has not been seen since. This lost artefact and by proxy, her champion, enabled her to allow her worship to continue unfettered; the loss of both lead to its decline.   What Aegwyn Demands
Aegwyn demands that justice be dispensed via her own code, not those of the mortal races. Impartiality in all cases of wrongdoings and the courage to see it through. She has no quarrel with mortal laws unless they contradict her own code, in which case they should be ignored. She also demands that her followers adhere to a strict regimen of study, gaining knowledge for the betterment of all.
