This world was created by a overconfident being who used the dangerous power of the Origin to create a whole planet. The result of this enormous amount of Origin magic destroyed his essence, making the planet without its creator.
The Gods, or the Watchers, are the childs of the Origin. they witnessed the death of their prideful brother and thought to create races across this land to change the creation of the fallen. The Watchers quickly realised that they can't directly affect the creations of other Watchers, and that the only way to take back the Origin magic used to craft their races was by making them adore, pray and sacrifice themselves to the Watcher's glory.
Seven races where created for the will of the Watchers, on an isolated mass of land deep into the Crystal Sea: humans, dwarves, halflings, Goliaths, Sparks, Feys and Slanns grew to prosper in harmony, making their civilizations the beacon of the Watchers' will.
However, nothing is ever peaceful in this world. Alzalam, Watcher for the Man, was corrupted by greed when he discovered another source of power behing the Mirror. When he plunged his will on the other side, he discovered many secrets of the Void and the Origin, making his nature change to a Parasite who's will became vile. He would absorb the Origin of the other Watchers, starting a war within the Watcher's Realm to seal the parasite into a plane crafted like a prison. The Black Sea became the cell of Alzalam. The result of this attempt severed the link between the Watchers and their races, making the prayers less and less effective and the gifts of the Watcher's improbable to recieve.
As the civilisation of man prayed for Alzalam, their prayers were unanswered, and the archbishops became desperate for answers. The vice of man grew stronger as the years progress and the texts of oracles were filled with vicious hate towards the other races, while a majority of the people denied the sayings of the high religious autorities.
With this much conflict, a man decided to follow the call he recieved from a being. Alzalam manipulated this man into releasing the seal of his prison, letting the Watcher and his minions roam the continent of Principium in vengeance.
It was by the will of the Prince, a valliant and sage monarch of man, who saved the race of the dwarves, the halflings and the humans by organising an escape by the sea, that the three races survived the onslaught that would be remembered as the Demonic Cataclysm. He became a Watcher after his deeds, becoming the first Watcher to endorse three races.
The ships sailed for months into the Crystal Sea only to find a land not yet colonized, filled with natives and the promise of a new life. The captain of the colony, Thorne, planted is flag with the surviving people, hopeful for a new begining.
Theores was created, and in the many years after the Cataclysm, the land of Thorne became the civilisation of discoveries, and the faith in the Prince grows to protect them against corruption. But in a land filled with hardship, danger and ancients powers, the nation will discover that they are not the only race who lived, and died, by the doom of the Void.
Welcome to the land of Thorne!
