Lithid Crystals
The magic crystals - or, more accurately, crystalized magic - that grow on the underbelly of Thera's continents are known as lyths. They are most easily harvested from Alba's smaller islands, but they are also mined on Erit and occasionally surface in the volcanic wastelands of Varen. These crystals represent raw arcane energy radiated by Thera's star, and a trained artificer can direct their magic into spells and other effects. Lyths are how the common populace access and use magic. Anyone can use even a powerful lyth without training, and unlike scrolls, most can be used again and again until their magic is spent. Nearly every household in Erit and Alba keeps on hand a light lyth and a mending lyth; they are much rarer on Varen, and only the wealthy can afford them there.

Geology & Geography
The mines of Krem are the largest producers of lithids. However, if one were to crawl across the underbelly of the continents, they would have access to more and larger crystals than any could ever imagine.

Lithids must be given "direction" by an artificer; otherwise they are simply condensed raw magic, and highly volatile.
