Night Weepers

Magic tied to battle sites is far from uncommon. Shock, grief, valor, rage, and the like haunt these violent places, creating a breeding ground for undead and other arcane forces.   It’s said a warrior never dies alone, and these ghostly blooms prove that true. They are the piece of oneself left behind when a comrade is slain in battle: like your felled friend, they cannot return with you. They bloom non-stop, day and night, winter and summer, and cannot be plucked or destroyed. Only when their owner dies will they fade away.   These flowers go by several names - Battle Blooms, Forget-Me-Nots, Where-They-Lays. Most commonly they are known as Night Weepers, a nickname earned for their mournful hum from dusk to dawn. The sound fills listeners with such paralyzing grief that one can do little more than weep until sunrise brings silence. In large numbers, a powerful longing sends some passersby stumbling through old battlefields at night, blindly searching for lost companions of their own.
