Suki Snails
The suki snail is a type of freshwater snail cultivated in Alba primarily for its blue dye. The meat is also eaten, and its pearly shells are used for cheap jewelry and decoration. However, gathering the ingredient for dye production does not require killing the snail. Rather, scraping up the mucus trail they leave behind and mixing it with activator produces the shimmering blue color.
In some regions of Alba, suki snails are raised in small ponds made of smooth stone, but in most places they roam free. Gathering suki mucus is a task usually given to children.
