Thybaud, the First King

Once the Qualities gave all living creatures their gifts, the Age of Prosperity began. With their newfound passion, intelligence, and strength, people began to pursue art and trade. They settled into small villages, which in time grew into towns and even small cities. These early settlements are noteworthy in themselves, but history remembers best when they were united under one man: Thybaud, the First King.   Born the son of a humble shepherd in a small village, it was nonetheless apparent from an early age that Thybaud was destined for greatness. Many parables and stories demonstrate his great wisdom and propensity for leadership even as a young boy. Recognizing that his small but well-loved home could only offer him so much, Thybaud set out to explore the world at the age of thirteen.   Thybaud's travels, his many mentors, and the people he helped along the way are detailed in The King's Journey, a book later written by a member of his court. However, the method by which he came into leadership - let alone united the large swath of Erit under his name - is regrettably lost to time. It is believed a companion tome covering his ascension was destroyed some time after his death.   The kingdom Thybaud established, Graihan, endured for many centuries before falling to war. Thybaud's legacy is taught in schools across Erit and even in Alba and Varen, and he remains to this day a hero of legend.
