Avonford

Districts

Avonford, located on the western coast of the Tiverwin Valley, is an ancient city with a rich history. The city is divided into 8 districts.
  • Clear Gate, the oldest part of the city, is located on the north banks of the Tiverwin river. Central to the district is Coltherstone keep. Located on the island in the port, Coltherstone is the headquarters of the internationally renowned adventurers guild the Gold cloaks. The district is home to the Salt Docks, where the fishermen and non-mariners' guild men rest their crew and unload their ships.
  • Iron Docks, the workmen, and merchants district, is the second district located in the old city. Most strikingly are the docks large and bustling, the Mariners' Guildhall and the Ironwrought prison is what new sailors are greeted with. The prison is the HQ of the Grim wardens in that part of the city. The prestigious Tiverwin College is located on the east side of the district, where students from the Tiverwin valley and the area west of the Arnish alps go for extended education.
  • Southtown, the residential part of the Old city, is home to the Palace of the Faith. Across the square from the giant temple is the Hall of Commerce, centre for the merchants' guild. Down the street from the Tiverwin College is the Faded Library, the provincial chapter of the titular monastic order. South-west of the library built into the outer wall stands Red Valley Castle.
  • Westway, one of the burrows built as an expansion of the current city, is largely residential. Many of the politicians and merchants have taken up residence in Westway. Located in Westway is the current governmental seat of the province Westway Fort, apart from that it is the home of the Governor of the Tiverwin Valley. The residence of the Mayor is Goldspine Manor. Westway is home to the only other temple in the city, Maven's Embrace, a church and cematary.
  • Cottonwell, home of the spinners, is the last district to be located within the walls. It houses the Spinners' District a row of workshops in the river designated with making some finer garments in the city. Howerver, the most important part of Cottonwell is the Arnfell Embassy. It was created before the founding of the Auralian Empire and currently functions as a centre to promote the stability in the Great Gold accord.
  • Sunrock, built along the Northern wall, is residential and small. It is home to Northside manor, the residence of a lowly aristocrat. Sunrock's position outside the wall leaves it largely undesirable for those who need much protection. The second significant part is Late Ferry Rest, an inn for traveller who need to travel around the city. The Inn caters to those who miss the last ferry of the day, the ferry brings people across the bay.
  • Nightdocks, across the bay, is the seediest part of the city. The docks are named after the inn connected to the Ferry network. However, in recent times the Nightdocks are named that way because of the criminal activity. The market around the Slow Goose tavern is known for holding any goods the law doesn't want traded.
  • Clay village, on the south side neighbouring the Nightdocks, is where some cheaper lines of work exist. Not quite delapidated, it is quite poor. Most poignantly it is home to Millers' End. However, that would be it not much of not except for being the entrance to town from the south.
