Charon - The Ferryman of Passages
God of Death, Afterlife, Passages and the Styx
Charon (KAIR-unn) Said to be the one god, everyone must meet some day. Charon ferries the spirits of the dead to the afterlife, he does not care for emotional quandaries. He knows that some day all must stand before him at the shore of the river Styx. Be it hell, heaven or some other afterlife, all the planes are open to him. Charon is known by many as the ferryman, but one of his more darker names is as the Horseman of Death. It is whispered that when the end times finally come that Charon will ride once more and the gates of the death will open wide. Many people place coins upon the eyes of the fallen in hopes that it might pay for a passage upon the ferryman's boat.
