No Silent Secret

On the way to the annual Iroan games in Akros, 3 heroes met up on the road in the mountains. They witnessed the Returned follower of Phenax, Varyas, be assassinated by two other Returned. Upon touching the funerary mask that Varyas wore, the heroes received an omen from Phenax. Seeing the heroes inspecting Varyas's body, they assumed the heroes intended to assist their quarry, and attacked. Triumphant, the heroes continued on to Akros.
They arrived just in time to receive news that the games had been delayed by 10 days, because Queen Cymede had suddenly fallen ill, and required time to recover. Her and the late King Anax had no heirs to stand in on her behalf.
To pass the time during this delay, the heroes decided to inspect the mask and attempt to decipher the strange script written on the inner surface. The only word they could make out was the name "Khea". After an evening of carousing to celebrate their successful arrival, they discovered that this name referred to an oracle at the edge of town. Over the course of this evening, the three heroes spent their time with a variety of individuals.
Upon consulting her, they receive information that a place holy to Phenax, the tomb of his follower Orestes, had recently been uncovered by an earthquake that dammed the river Khystonos, reducing its flow to a trickle. She provided a map to the party to show them the way to the tomb through the Katachthon mountains, and promised sums of gold should the party successfully return to her with rubbings of tomb etchings, or other artifacts from within.
