Aegis of the Stars

A tradition held by some Hyperion Federation cultures to give a sense of protection and safety.
The term Aegis of the Stars is somewhat of a misnomer. It does not actually involve large shields. The tradition involves a large number of individuals all holding different pieces of hyperion technology in their hands and standing in a large circle, facing inwards. As the cultures of the HF all take great pride in their technology, this can even make them feel invincible. They then sometimes hold out these machines in front of them, obviously with pride. If performed with military personnel, then instead, they will use hyperion weapons (the HF has strict gun laws) or some other military equipment. Sometimes tanks have even been brought to these rituals.
Although initially performed by suons, it has been found to work with almost all species. When done with suons, the people involved will recall their Star Attunement, either verbally or by drawing the star on the technology.This tradition originated at about the midway point of the first HF-CD war. This helped them to unify more effectively against the overwhelming CD force and emerge victorious at a time of extreme stake, where the survival of every individual was becoming more slim.
After this significant population reduction, the tradition stayed, especially as it improves the morale of armed forces. Sometimes, it can also be performed with a specific item in the center of the circle. This item, strangely, is usually seen to function better after being 'enchanted by the stars' during such a ritual. There are few scientific theories for this, but it could be a cause of some sort of magic or psionics. However, not believing they exist (util the discovery of Mauray, the Hyperion Science Association largely disapproved of these views.
