Barinoh

A relatively large insect-like creature inhabiting Sinus, the Trevan homeworld.   The Barinoh are also a large insectoid species but unlike the trevan they arent sentient. They initially had 6 legs, 2 of which also double as hands and near the front. About 1m long, they would eat various fruits and other smaller insects, making them omnivorous. However, following the nuclear war of the Trevan on this planet, the high radiation content would mutate this species, as well as the other species on the planet. The Barinoh have split off into several mutated subspecies now, some are asymmetrical and others have started to grow more limbs. This comes at the cost of a reduced lifespan as the radiation caused damage to the DNA. Genetic drift happens much faster due to a similar reason, causing divergent evolution to happen even faster. Most subspecies simply die off as they are often not viable. As such, they have remained an endangered species for thousands of years until the more modern Trevan Alliance has put forward protection measures - hopefully ensuring the species can survive in captivity. This was signed in 20184.   Some subspecies can also be highly dangerous. Such as those that have grown large claws that they use to cut into prey. These can be dangerous enough to kill trevans so they sometimes eat people after cutting them into small pieces. There are also some that have grown appendages that allow them to fire projectiles at another creature. The wildlife of Sinus is comparitively dangerous, but not as dangerous as a planet like Tebburus, so measures are taken to protect people from wildlife. The carapace does not form effective protection against trevan bullets. Somewhat similar to the trevans, however, the barinoh also have a large number of genders. This allows 2 individuals to reproduce with little chance they could be the same gender. They have 31 genders.
