Traxilax
Sentient species of the Alti Dominion. Traxilax are a large, crustacean-like species. They are the primary species of the Dominion and have conquered many others, using them for slave labor.
They believe they are the rightful owners of the galaxy.
They do however, need water to survive. They an survive for short times outside of water, but spend most of their lives submerged. Thus, their starships are often filled with water or contain water-filled rooms.
Basic Information
Anatomy
They have a thick exoskeleton that protects them from many outside threats. They have 2 large pincer-like arms, but this is not useful for creating technology. Therefore ,they also have 2 large arms with hands below the pincers used for manipulation. They also have 6 fingers.
Genetics and Reproduction
Although they reproduce slowly, females have multiple wombs and can gow multiple embryos in parallel. Their young are small as a result, however.
In Traxilax culture, they dont get married, or a permanent partner. Their partners usually change on a near - daily basis, so the ofspring will likely never get to know their father. The male simply visits the female's house when they feel like it.
Although traxilax have small lungs in comparison to their body size, they breathe rather quickly. This allows them to use the oxygen it needs but is highly energy intensive. For breathing underwater, they have gills under the exoskeleton, protected by the exoskeleton itself. This can present a weak spot for any attack at the correct angle as they are still exposed.
They then have a large digestive system which is surprisingly efficient at about 30%. Due to its larger intestine, it can take longer to digest food as well.
