runes

Most creatures in this world do not have natural born access to magic. Certain creatures called elementals   have natural born magic. Magic used by everyone else involved runes. runes are not magic themselves, but act as more storage for magic to be used. runes are put on objects for them to be used. runes can only be crafted by a special few called runecrafters, who carve the runes, and channlers, who channel the magic into them from elementals or other magical sources. runes require mental strength in order to activate, requiring more depending on the strength of the spell. there are certain runes that are easy to use and common in every household. these include fire runes to help cook food and warm houses, to water runes to help irrigate farms. the more powerful spells however, cost so much willpower that one spellcaster can not activate them on their own, requiring several in the activation of it.
