The Blue Heron
The Blue Heron is a 56' hulk hull cargo vessel, owned by Len Porter and his Porter Shipping Company. Its home port is Lorancourt where Len ships freight and passengers whenever and where ever he can to make ends meet.
The Heron is less than ten years old, and is small for a hulk design, but she is fairly quick and nimble under sail. She can easily carry 7 tons of bulk cargo and up to 9 passengers. There are no cabins, but if a journey is forecast to take longer than a single day, Len can set up a awning out of sailcloth and passengers can sleep underneath that to stay out of the weather. The Heron requires at least three hands to sail her: Master, Mate and one crewman. Ideally, there would be five hands, but Len has been on a tough budget for the last several months.
Loading/unloading takes a minimum of 5 hours (longer if short-handed) and if sweeps are required to be used, then its all hands to an oar.
