Rahnashim
The Jabal are governed by a council of elders known as the Rahnashim, which translates to "Those Who Listen" in their language. The term signifies their role in listening to the will of the Mountain God, the needs of the community, and the whispers of the mountains themselves.
Despite being under the nominal control of the Kingdom of Set, the Jabal maintain a significant degree of autonomy due to their isolated location and the mutual respect that exists between the Rahnashim and the King of Set.
Structure
The Rahnashim is composed of the eldest and most respected members of the Jabal community, chosen based on their wisdom, spiritual connection with the mountain god, and their understanding of the natural world. This council is responsible for making decisions that affect the whole community, determining when and where to mine, settling disputes, and maintaining their delicate relationship with the Kingdom of Set.
