Dragonborn

A proud, ancient society hailing from eastern Harad.

Born of dragons, as their name proclaims, the dragonborn walk proudly through a world in which some regard them in great esteem and respect, and some regard them with fearful incomprehension.
On Timor, the Dragonborn civillisation resides on the hot, dry, desert continent of Harad. The collective name for the tribes of the Dragonborn together as one is Haradasi Draconis.
Shaped by draconic gods, or the dragons themselves, they originally hatched from dragon eggs as a unique race, combining humanoid and draconic features. They continue to offer faithful service to the dragons who oversee their longevity and prosperity from afar.
To all dragonborn, their togetherness and unity is more important than life itself, and it is rare for two dragonborn, even strangers, not to help each other when they are in need. A continual drive for self improvement reflects the self-sufficiency of the race as a whole and they value skill and excellence in all endeavours.
When in need, dragonborn clans will turn to each other for help before any other races, or even the gods.
Clans are mostly independently governed by their 'Drakes', the highest ranking members of the clan. They are united however in loyalty to High Saurus Balsar Hass, leader of the great Clan Hass. Since their existence as a civilisation, the leadership of Clan Hass has been known and unquestioned, seen as a directive from the mysterious Castes, a group of powerful beings who guide the race as a whole but only communicate through the high saurus.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Dragonborn look much like dragons standing erect in human form, although they lack wings and only occasionally have tails. Their small, fine scales range in colour from brass or bronze, to scarlet, white, red, blue or green.
They are tall and strongly built, often standing close to 6 and a half feet tall and weighing 300 pounds or more. Their hands and feet are strong, talonlike claws with three fingers and a thumb on each hand.

Genetics and Reproduction

The blood of particular kinds of dragons run strong through some dragonborn clans. In these dragonborn, their scales match closely the colour of their dragon ancestors.

Growth Rate & Stages

Dragonborn hatch from eggs, and grow quickly. At around three years old they have the maturity of an adolescent human. Gestation period in the egg is long however, lasting on average around 2 years.
Although not as long lived as their dragon counterparts, they are the longest lived of all the races of Timor, the oldest known dragon born is thought to have been between 1248 years old when she died.

Ecology and Habitats

Dragonborn tend to make their homes in the more lush areas of eastern Harad, where the oases are more plentiful. The majority of their civilisation sits at the bottom of a large mountain range, the top of which is said to be the home of the Castes.
They aren't known for building sprawling cities, and are more comfortable in smaller settlements built in practical locations. The only real exception to this is the city of Harphrax, situated at the base of the mountain of the castes. This is home to Clan Hass.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Given their draconic ancestors, dragonborn share many traits with dragons. One of the more destructive traits they share is their breath weapon - dragonborn share their ancestors ability to exhale destructive energy. The type of energy exhaled is related to their heritage.
