Steve

(a.k.a. The First Man, Father of Humankind, Progenitor)

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Steve entered the world not through birth per se, but through creation. He was formed by the Initiator and designed by Herobrine as the first human man, after whom all subsequent humans would be patterned. Because of his unusual circumstances of "birth" -- he came into existence not as a baby but with the apparent age of a young adult -- tracking his age is difficult. Students of mythology place his "birth" age at 20 to simplify things. He was created alongside Alex, the first human woman.
Shortly after their formation, Steve and Alex parted ways. Steve went west, and Alex went east. On their journeys, they encountered clans of humans created after them.
Diamond Age humans had much longer lifespans than subsequent humans, and Steve was no exception. He lived to be 340 years old, and was said to still be spry and strong in his advanced years. Instead of dying, however, the gods granted him immortality and made him a Creative. Since then, Steve has occupied a low plane on the Aether with Alex, and he is able to pass between there and the mortal dimensions at will.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Being the first human man to be created, Steve is often credited with being the progenitor of the human race. He served as the Creator's paradigm for human males. Having been patterned after him, human men bear the poetic name "Sons of Steve." Whether or not Steve physically fathered children is not clear, but it may have been the case.
During his initial lifetime, Steve was a capable architect and powerful leader. He formed a clan of fellow humans, who backed him up as their leader. All others feared to challenge him. The only person who might have rivalled him was Alex, whom he would never fight anyway. Rumor has it he constructed several pre-ancient cities with his bare hands. One persistent story says he was the one who built the Initiator's Henge, or at least that he had a significant role in its construction.
When the Initiator fell asleep beneath the world, they granted Steve and Alex the powers of a Creative. Because of this, Steve doesn't age, is immortal, and has generative powers. Supposedly, Steve has used his Creative powers to build monuments in remote corners of the world, for lucky explorers to discover.

Failures & Embarrassments

For all the grandness of his beginning, Steve found his later life marked by catastrophic failures of character. He accidentally contributed to the rampant pride and destructive habits humans developed in the late Diamond Age, by his participation in leading a clan (later a nation) and building grand structures. He had good intentions, but those around him took his example and used it in their aggressive ambition.
Most controversially, Steve could slay Enders with minimal assistance. In his day, the species was even larger and stronger than modern Enders, and quite dragonlike with horns and wings. Steve slew his share of Old Enders, before he or anyone else really understood the gravity of such a deed. There are cave paintings and murals on pre-ancient ruins that depict human men fighting and killing Old Enders, some of them having figures that resemble Steve. It is probably for this reason that Enders were so mistrustful of humans for so long.
During the Fall, Steve hid from Herobrine's wrath. He took his people underground to shelter them from the earth-shaking attack. But when humans emerged from hiding in the aftermath, Steve quailed at the new and deeply flawed Gold Age world. He abandoned his people and went alone into the wilderness.
