The Aether

In this life you will not find it. When their time on earth has ended, the souls of the righteous are carried up to this high and holy place; the home of the gods. Here, they watch over the people on the earth below.

Geography

<s>The Aether is a realm of clouds and floating islands over a deep void. In that way, it could be compared to the End, but whereas the End is dark, the Aether is awash in light. Rainbows, stone bridges, and beacons connect the islands so they can be traversed. Certain islands float at different levels; these form the various "layers" of the Aether. The souls of righteous deceased people live at a lower level; immortals and Creatives live at a higher one; and the gods live at the highest. It is always daytime in the Aether, and the islands revolve at a leisurely pace about an invisible focus.</s>
